About British Social Attitudes surveys

Every year the British Social Attitudes survey asks over 3,000 people what it's like to live in Britain and how they think Britain is run. Since 1983 the survey has been tracking people's changing social, political and moral attitudes. The surveys are carried out by NatCen Social Research.

NatCen Social Research launched the latest British Social Attitudes Report in July 2019. Read the report at British Social Attitudes Report. The 2019 dataset has been added to this site.

Registration and site customisation

NatCen are introducing a subscription for BritSocAt users from commercial organisations and are asking all such users to re-register the next time that they sign in. If you are from a non-commercial organisation (a university, charity, not-for-profit organisation, or a personal user) then you can continue to use the site as normal.

For commercial organisations, the subscription fee is £500 per year. It is a flat fee per organisation, rather than per user. All of this fee will either go back into the running of the website or the survey itself. After registering as a commercial organisation you will receive an invoice from NatCen Social Research.

Registration is straightforward and provides immediate access. Users may choose between:

standard access designed to meet the needs of most site visitors, or
advanced access which allows users to customise the facilities they need to best suit their research.
